In-Person or Online Psychotherapy
Is online therapy for you?
Like all types of psychotherapy, online psychotherapy has advantages and disadvantages. Consider the points below to determine if online therapy is right for you.
Advantages:
-It is convenient. It requires no travelling, no finding a place to park, and less time away from home or work.
-Available in remote areas where face-to-face psychotherapy might not be an option.
-Available to clients who cannot leave home due to physical or mental health challenges.
-Provides the client with more options in choosing a therapist.
-Evening appointments available.
Disadvantages:
-While therapy occurs on a stable, secure, Canadian based system, no communication method is 100% secure.
-Electronic communication can be unreliable. Sessions can be interrupted by technological issues.
-Online therapists may have trouble responding to crisis situations in a timely manner.
-Online therapy may not be appropriate for some types of issues.
-Therapists may have difficulty picking up on the finer points of nonverbal communication such as body language and facial expressions.

Couples Therapy
When people enter a caring relationship, each one brings their own history, personality, hopes, needs, skills, and aspirations. As they grow together as a couple, they may find that the fit was not what they first expected. Part of being a couple is finding a way to fit all these pieces of ourselves into a meaningful whole while keeping our own identities. Couples therapy can help this process move forward.

Family Therapy
Families are a lot like living creatures. They have a particular way in which they function and grow. As they age and mature, they go through a number of developmental phases that may be uncomfortable. Sometimes outside forces can disrupt healthy family function. Family therapy can help return the system to a comfortable functioning state.
